From factory floor to Acid Brass, Frank Renton celebrates 75 years of The Fairey Band .

Formed in 1937 by a group of employees, The Fairey Engineering Band was led for 30 years by the legendary cornet player and band maestro Harry Mortimer. Over the ensuing decades they've been Open Champions 16 times and National Champions 9 times with titles such as Granada Band of the Year and the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Best of Brass all adding distinction to one of the best bands in the world.

Tonight Frank Renton celebrates their 75th Anniversary with music especially recorded for the programme and he talks to conductor Mark Peacock and long-time band member Brian Taylor about the band's history, the lasting effect of the band's Acid Brass collaboration, and why they think it's still such a special place to make music.
