...then a radical idea was born .... individuals were asked to open up private gardens for 'a shilling a head' to raise money for the nurses of the Queen's Nursing Institute. Eighty five years on and the opens 38,000 gardens raising money for charity. With the Yellow book in hand - the garden visitor's bible - Rachael Garside visits a "The Cottage" near Mountain Ash; a new garden in Sketty; a on the outskirts of Swansea and the village opening their garden gates together in Colwinston.
