After visiting those on the frontline in Afghanistan, Tim Westwood meets some of the military wives and girlfriends who hold the fort back home as their men put their lives on the line.

We begin our story with Emily and Phil Saint. Emily is 22, has a two year old son and another child on the way. We meet her and Phil a week before he's due to deploy to Afghanistan. We are joined by her friend and neighbour Kelly who talks about living on a military estate and the importance of wives sticking together.

Tim meets two of our wives in London and talks to them about their experiences.

Amy Tardelli-Brown's childhood sweetheart Adam was killed in action in August 2010. Amy talks candidly about being a widow in her twenties and the feeling of her husband being brought back home through Wootton Bassett.

Kellie Brimson leads a very active non-military life as a singer and dancer, having performed in everything from the German stage version of Beauty and the Beast, to being in an Abba tribute act (she even gives Tim a personal rendition of her favourite Abba song).

We also hear from Captain Rebecca Marshall, who, as well as being a military wife, serves in the forces too. She joined aged 24 and talks about the pressures of being young and female in the military.

Throughout the programme we hear archive from Tim's own trip to Camp Bastion in Afghanistan, as well as from troops currently at the base talking about how important the support from home is for them.
