It's a jewel of a programme as Beechgrove goes a little diamond jubilee crazy. Carolyn has created a striking painting/planting by numbers jubilee bedding plant scheme set off with red, white and blue hanging baskets. Meanwhile, Lesley has designed a diamond-shaped, sophisticated planting scheme. Which one will receive royal recognition?

Carolyn was inspired for her jubilee planting scheme by visiting Perth's floral diamond jubilee celebrations. Perth - Scotland's newest city - is planning a weekend of excesses to celebrate the Queen's diamond jubilee and as part of this the horticultural team will be prettying up the town to their usual high standard. There will be royal planters on the Queen's Bridge and the area outside the swimming pool will be a mass of red, white and blue bedding. Carolyn takes a royal tour.

Meanwhile, back in the garden Jim checks on the progress of his chrysanthemums and talks about preventing pests and diseases on them while 'stopping' the plants to encourage more flowers.

Carolyn and Lesley take a look at the plants that might replace the beleaguered busy lizzies that have suffered so much the last couple of years in Scotland through high humidity and cool nights with downy mildew.
