Clare Balding hosts coverage of the Derby from Epsom Downs racecourse, with Rishi Persad and Sonali Shah, and with race commentary from Jim McGrath.
The diamond jubilee celebrations start with the Queen's official visit to Epsom Downs racecourse for the Derby. With 125,000 fans expected, it should be quite a party to kick off a weekend of royal festivities!
One of the most famous flat races in the world, The Derby was first run in 1780. Contested over a mile-and-a-half of picturesque Surrey countryside, the roll of honour includes legendary horses such as Nijinsky, Shergar and Sea the Stars. The list of winning jockeys is no less illustrious, featuring the likes of Lester Piggott, Mick Kinane and Frankie Dettori.
Combining one of the summer's best days of racing with all the pomp and ceremony of a special royal occasion, Clare Balding hosts the coverage from Epsom. She is joined by Rishi Persad and Sonali Shah, with race commentary from Jim McGrath.
