The heat is on for the remaining four amateur cooks as judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace ask them to tackle one of the hardest culinary disciplines - pastry.

Only four exceptional amateur cooks remain in the culinary battle to become this year's MasterChef. Judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace ask them to tackle one of the hardest culinary disciplines - pastry.

Firstly they head to the eclectic Sketch in central London, where the contestants have two and a half hours to produce their own pastry masterpieces for a very special afternoon tea celebrating the best of 1970s comedy. The four must create one savoury and two sweet cakes or pastry items for their guests, who include stars from The Goodies, Butterflies and Are You Being Served. The food may have been woeful in the '70s but the comedy was vintage so the pressure is on for the contestants to put a smile on the faces of the legends that made the nation laugh.

Then it is back to MasterChef HQ for the most intimidating test of their pastry skills; each contestant must cook two absolute show-stopping desserts in two and a half hours. John and Gregg are joined by three of the world's finest pastry chefs to judge their results: James 'Jocky' Petrie, Damian Allsop and Claire Clark, who has an MBE for her services to food. Between them these esteemed judges have been responsible for the desserts at some of the world's very finest three-star Michelin restaurants. Will our four amateurs be able to impress such distinguished and discerning guests?

The pressure is on as a place in final week is at stake, and for one of the contestants their MasterChef journey will come to an end.
