French film director Bertrand Tavernier discusses Deathwatch, a film shot almost entirely in the city of Glasgow.
Rampart - Director Oren Moverman, discusses his disturbing new film, which stars Woody Harrelson as a Vietnam vet and Rampart Precinct cop; dedicated to doing "the people's dirty work" (and asserting his own code of justice.) We also review the film with critics, Wendy Lloyd and Eddie Harrison.
Bertrand Tavernier - Deathwatch. In 1979, distinguished French film director, Bertrand Tavernier, shot a sci-fi feature almost entirely in the City of Glasgow. Starring Romy Schneider, Harvey Keitel, Harry Dean Stanton and Max von Sydow, it was filmed by renowned cinematographer Paul William Glenn. A cult classic , Death Watch has become a forgotten film but it will be shown again as part of the GFF, and the great director will be coming to Glasgow for the screening - we hear from him and review it with critics Pasquale Iannone and Eddie Harrison.
Our DVD Pick of the Week is 'The Conformist.' At the peak of his creative powers, the 29-year-old Bernardo Bertolucci eschewed the influence of mentor Jean-Luc Godard and partnered up with Vittorio Storaro and developed his own style for one of the most visually dazzling, politically and psychologically intriguing - and possibly greatest - of all Italian films. The Conformist is about to be released on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK. Pasquale Iannone discusses the film.
