Mike Harding and Scottish singer and broadcaster Julie Fowlis present the 2012 Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 2 Folk Awards, live from the Lowry in Salford. Featuring performances from Don McLean, The Dubliners, Seth Lakeman, Christy Moore, Oysterband and June Tabor, Martin Simpson and others.
Now in its 13th year, the Folk Awards celebrate the UK's vibrant folk scene and its achievements over the past 12 months, as well as giving special awards to honour outstanding lifetime contributions. This year, those awards go to The Dubliners and Don McLean.
Guest presenters include popular comedians Ed Byrne and Jeremy Hardy, Doves' lead singer Jimi Goodwin, acclaimed English actor Jack Shepherd and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ broadcasters Stuart Maconie and Paul Gambaccini.
The event also includes the presentation of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 2 Young Folk Award, which is the network's annual search for the most promising young folk act in the UK.
