Scotland's colleges got a bit extra in the Budget, but in times of high youth unemployment why do universities still get better financial backing and so much of the limelight?

John Swinney made an extra Β£19.5 million available to colleges and students when his Budget Bill went through the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday afternoon, but the axe is still swinging deeply into Scotland's FE colleges. Why, when so many young Scots are out of work, do universities still seem to attract greater financial backing and kudos than their college counterparts?
