Literature looms large as we doff caps and polish shoes for Head Judge David Walliams - as the launch week for 500 Words, our short story writing competition, reaches its climax.

The totally-talented and lovely-looking Mr DAVID WALLIAMS co-hosts the show on the final day of the Radio 2 Breakfast Show's 500 WORDS launch week.

After the inaugural book-busting spectacular last year, our short story competition for anyone aged 13 or under is BACK!

When our Head Judge, DAVID WALLIAMS, isn't swimming the Channel or the entire length of the Thames, he found the time to write four hilarious best-selling novels for children, the latest of which is about a cabbage-soup eating Granny who happens to be an international jewel thief. As well as successful careers in acting, comedy and presenting, he has also been hailed as the Roald Dahl of his generation.

A video of David's top tips for writing a winning story is available on the Radio 2 website.

The writers of the Top 50 stories will be invited to watch the Chris Evans Breakfast Show broadcasting LIVE from the Hay Festival of Literature and the Arts on Friday 1st June 2012.

So if you have lots of ideas and just love writing stories then why not enter now?

And if you're a teacher, don't fear - 'Your Breakfast Show (Also) Needs You!' We want you to help us judge the initial stages of these amazing tales. Last year nearly 4000 of you volunteered to help us out, we couldn't have done it without you!

So get cracking kids, we can't wait to read what you write!
