Two Catholic midwives are in court asking to be excused for religious reasons from working on terminations. Kaye aks if matters of conscience should matter in the workplace.
Two Scottish Catholic midwives have gone to court after requests to be excused from assisting during terminations on the grounds of faith and conscientious objection were rejected by their employer.
Kaye asks if it's right that employees should be able to decline to undertake certain tasks on the basis of their faith, or moral and ethical beliefs. Or should workers be expected to fulfil all of the tasks that are required of them in the course of their work? And if your faith or ethics stand in the way of your work, should you even be doing that kind of work?
