In tonight's show Bob talks to contemporary song-writing legend Guy Clark, whose 45 year career has produced classic songs such as L.A. Freeway, Magnolia Wind and Desperadoes Waiting For A Train.

Born in the West Texas town of Monahans, Guy Clark began his song writing career in the late 1960s and, alongside best friend Townes Van Zandt, has been credited as the chief architect of the Texas song-writing genre. Described by Emmylou Harris as 'an American poet', his style of crafting lyrically honed songs to simple melodies has earned him the title of 'Songbuilder' and 'Craftsman', whilst fellow Texan songwriter Nanci Griffith says he writes " the heart stuff that heroes are made of ". In November Guy celebrated his 70th birthday , an event that was marked by a tribute concert in Austin, Texas and the release of an album called 'This One's For Him - A Tribute To Guy Clark' featuring artists including Lyle Lovett, Rosanne Cash, Willie Nelson and Steve Earle.
In a session recorded in Nashville last autumn Guy performs live and talks to Bob about turning 70, his songwriting career and the recording of his recent live album 'Songs And Stories' at the Belcourt Theatre in Nashville.
