In tonight's programme Frank Renton announces the Radio 2 Young Brass Awards 2012 which cover three categories: Youth Brass Band of the Year, Soloist of the Year under 18, and Soloist of the Year under 21.

As part of the award, the recipients get to play in a special broadcast concert at the Royal Northern College of Music's Festival of Brass in January 2012, where the panel will make a further overall award.

We also hear one of the best bands in America, The Brass Band of Central Florida, with conductor and trumpet star Chad Shoopman. The band features some of Central Florida's finest brass and percussion musicians performing in the British brass band style, with a uniquely American twist. They were recorded at last weekend's World of Brass In Concert at The Sage Gateshead.
