Friday Night Is Music Night celebrates Desert Island Discs with a glittering array of castaways from the Mermaid Theatre in London.
Presenter Kirsty Young invites the likes of Ronnie Corbett, Julian Lloyd-Webber and Courtney Pine to perform previous selections. She asks others, including Maureen Lipman, Sheila Hancock, Paul Gambaccini and Jo Brand to recall why they chose a particular song to accompany their stay on the idyllic island. Mixing classical music, pop and a dash of musical theatre is the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Concert Orchestra, conducted by Roderick Dunk.
And join Kirsty Young and Sue Lawley in the interval as they reminisce about their favourite songs and castaways. This concert first broadcast on Radio 2 in May 2011.
