Nigel Ogden presents a programme of popular organ recordings with some entertaining pieces from the organ world.

In Tonights programme Nigel Ogden brings us memories of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's first theatre organ, a couple of organ plus accordion duets plus news of a brand new combined DVD and CD featuring Birmingham City Organist, Thomas Trotter at the organ of the Town Hall. But the show gets underway with with a great arrangement of The Lady Is A Tramp from the Rodgers and Hart musical, Babes In Arms. It's played by Chris Elliott on an American Wurlitzer which has managed to survive in its original home which is Shea's Theatre in Buffalo which, these days, is a centre for the performing arts. Now the organ was installed in 1925 and it's interesting to read that the Wurlitzer company made sure this instrument was an absolute cracker because it was only about 20 miles from their factory and made a very useful demonstration instrument for potential cinema-owning purchasers.
