Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill in Session

Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill perform two live tracks and tell Mike what they've been up to over the last decade, in an interview recorded at the Cambridge Folk Festival.

Mike Harding presents an hour of the best in folk, roots and acoustic music. Tonight's show features Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill, in conversation and in session.

Martin and Dennis - one of the best-regarded duos in folk music - performed the first ever live session for Mike's programme in the late 1990s. This summer, at the Cambridge Folk Festival, Mike caught up with the talented pair and recorded them once again.

Martin Hayes, from County Clare, is the son of the legendary band leader, the late P.J. Hayes. He moved to the United States in the 1980s and met guitarist Dennis Cahill, a Chicago native with Irish parents. The pair formed a band, Midnight Court, before settling on duo work and releasing two acclaimed albums in 1997 and 1990. International touring followed, and in 2008 they finally released a follow-up album, Welcome Here Again.

On tonight's programme they perform two exceptional live tracks and tell Mike what they've been up to over the last decade.
