Gardening programme celebrating Scottish gardens, with horticultural tips and tricks, presented by Jim McColl, Carole Baxter, Lesley Watson and George Anderson.

In the Beechgrove Garden, Carole and Lesley are in the Cutting Garden, making early summer arrangements of hardy annuals. Meanwhile, Jim is in the veg plot, watching to see if there is any difference in the crops treated with a new fertiliser.

A planting opportunity has been created in the herbaceous border and in the calendar border after the removal of the fallen tree. Opportunities for different plantings arise now that a little more light is coming through.

Carole and Lesley are with their decking veg again. The early tatties will be ready for harvesting. Not that the girls are competitive, but, who has the biggest yield? Lesley with her stacking system or Carole grown in a pot? Lesley will also bring her seed potatoes saved from springtime, soak them and plant tatties for the C word - Christmas.

George Anderson is with Martin Walker in Gifford. The garden to the rear of the house is tiered and exposed. At the moment the garden is a blank canvas and Martin wants us to help to create an attractive area and choose plants suitable for the position at the foot of the Lammermuir Hills. George uses one level as a vegetable patch and the top level for ornamental planting, all of which will suit the challenging conditions that Martin is growing in.
