Clare Teal presents the first part of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Big Band in concert with singer Viktoria Tolstoy and conductor Joerg Achim Keller at the Sounds New Festival in Canterbury.

They perform a Russian themed set that includes movements from Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn's acclaimed arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite.

Guest singer Viktoria Tolstoy is from Stockholm and is the great great grand daughter of Russian writer Leo Tolstoy. Since being signed to Blue Note Records in the 1990's she has explored many aspects of jazz, funk, folk and classical music to great acclaim. Her set tonight includes specially commissioned big band settings of music from her album, My Russian Soul. These include other celebrated themes by Tchaikovsky including music from Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.
