1/8 Barry McGuigan's popularity transcends the sport of boxing. Growing up in Northern Ireland at the height of the troubles he first picked up boxing gloves at the age of 11.
In 1985 he achieved his dream and became Featherweight Champion of the World when he defeated Eusebio Pedroza and that same year he was voted Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sports Personality of the year.
Now a successful boxing commentator Barry's also appeared on the TV show Hell's Kitchen.
In conversation with Bryan Cooney, Barry talks about the highs and lows of his career and the importance of his family life. He tells Bryan that as a 9 year old youngster he found a gold wedding ring which he gave to the love of his life, a ring that his wife still keeps to this day.
