Damage Control
Medical drama series. Dan must deal with the pressure of treating his best friend, while Hanssen tries to make Sahira see that she still needs him.
Dan tries to do right by his best friend Sean, who has a long standing knee injury, but it seems that his condition is a lot worse than Dan first realised. When Malick gets involved it rubs Dan up the wrong way, but he soon has to concede that Malick might be right. It soon emerges that Dan has been giving Sean steroids on the quiet, and this may have weakened his immune system. Dan's fears are realised when a cut that Sean received when he fell due to his knee injury becomes infected with a flesh-eating bacteria. Although they save his leg in theatre, the outcome is grave. A frustrated Dan takes it out on Malick in the locker room.
Hanssen is upset that Sahira takes Greg's advice over his when treating a patient. He sets out to reignite the old magic they once shared when she was his trainee. He attempts to get her into a crossover operation with him, despite her fears that she might not be ready. Hanssen is determined that they work together and insists she can do it. However, under pressure in theatre, Sahira slips and the patient starts to crash. Despite his attempts to calm her, Hanssen is forced to get Greg in to help. Greg is able to steer her successfully through the procedure. Outside theatre Sahira balls Hanssen out, saying she's no longer his special project, leaving Hanssen only too aware that he's no longer her mentor.
Frieda is called by her family to say that her father has passed away. She does her best to hold it together throughout the shift. When she tells Sacha what has happened, he says she must go home to the Ukraine. However, Frieda is determined to get to the end of the day, by way of honouring her father.
