As Zainab and Masood's marriage begins to implode, Tamwar is forced to beg Syed to help reunite their warring parents. A guilt-ridden Mercy calls a halt to her wedding.

Distraught Zainab packs Masood’s belongings, while Tamwar and Syed try to convince her to change her mind. Tamwar angrily warns Masood away when he wildly turns on Afia, insisting that Yusef’s after Zainab and threatening to kill Yusef before that happens. Zainab and Syed share a moment when Zainab reminisces about his childhood, and admits how much she’s missed him. Later, Yusef visits Zainab and insists she take the pills he gave her. Knowing that furious Masood’s watching, Yusef stands at the window, takes off his tie and draws the bedroom curtains.

To convince her to go ahead with the wedding, Fatboy confesses to Mercy that he loves her. Mercy doesn’t think it would be fair to marry him, she isn’t in love with him. Fatboy insists he’ll follow her to Nigeria if she goes, he doesn’t expect love in return. The wedding goes ahead. At the reception, Fatboy tells Dot he confessed his love, but lies that Mercy loves him too. Fatboy tells Mercy it’s only a matter of time before she falls in love with him.

Phil’s dream of a job in Dubai is short lived when Yusef won’t give him a clean bill of health. Shirley worries that Phil will go off the rails again, Yusef suggests that a local support group might help.

Christian takes Syed’s shocked silence as a refusal, and is hurt when Syed puts his family troubles before their relationship. Later, Syed wants Christian to propose again, claiming he wants to prove their commitment to each other. When Christian proposes again, Syed accepts, but wants to keep the engagement secret.

Dot’s frustrated that people keep offering their condolences about Jim, he’s not died. She confesses to Fatboy she’s not sure what to do now Jim’s gone, and returns home to an empty house, lonely.
