I Can Make You Reminisce: Paul McKenna Talks 70s

Johnnie Walker revisits the decade of Pan's People, platforms, prog, pop and punk, as celebrity hypnotist, author and broadcaster Paul McKenna shares his memories of the decade.

Grease is the word as Johnnie Walker remembers the decade of Kojac, punk and Kerplunk.

Our featured album is a 40th anniversary compilation of live performances and recordings from artists who appeared on the seminal Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ 2 music television, The Old Grey Whistle Test. Johnnie picks his live favourites and digs out a 70s Whistle Test interview with Elton John and Bernie Taupin.

Also on the show this week, Paul McKenna, the celebrity hypnotist, author and broadcaster recalls his memories of the 1970s, the decade in which he spent his childhood and teenage years.

Paul McKenna is the well-known broadcaster and self-improvement author, writing books and hosting shows which aim to help individuals with problems ranging from low confidence and weight issues, to a plethora of phobias. With a background in radio, McKenna started out at aged 16 at in-store Radio Topshop and later presented for stations including Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 1, Capital Radio and Radio Caroline. McKenna went into hypnotism after his interest was sparked when a hypnotist guested on one of his radio shows, and he began experimenting with small hypnotism shows before progressing to a regular theatre show and later performing in theatres around the world. In the early nineties McKenna decided to quit radio one and for all and in 1993 his first TV show, The Hypnotic World of Paul McKenna, was broadcast on ITV. He has since written a range of successful self-help books including the seminal I Can Make You Thin, has appeared on many more TV programmes, and also works as a private hypnotist.
