Johnnie spins the hits of the 1970s. This week Damian O'Neill, lead guitarist with The Undertones, recalls his upbringing and musical education in Northern Ireland.

From Blondie to Bolan, skipping the Bay City Rollers, to the Boomtown Rats, Johnnie Walkers spins the hits of the 1970s. This week Damian O'Neill, lead guitarist with the punk band The Undertones, recalls his upbringing and musical education in Northern Ireland.

From the purchase of his first record, to being the only punk band in Derry, Damian remembers the early years of the band that went on to release the anthem Teenage Kicks, as the decade drew to a close. It's now been 33 years since they released what would become John Peel's favourite record.

Also on the show, a listener digs out their platform shoes or ripped punk T-shirt to remember what the decade meant to them in My 70s, and Johnnie spins three gems from Kate Bush's debut album The Kick Inside, ahead of the release of her new album.
