Sir Terry eases you into the bank holiday lunchtime with music and musings. He chats to film and TV composer Randy Edelman and has a performance from The Webb Sisters.
Sir Terry Wogan invites American film and TV composer Randy Edelman in for a chat and The Webb Sisters give a stripped-down performance.
Randy Edelman produced solo albums before moving into the world of composing for TV and film, with songs later re-recorded by the likes of Barry Manilow and The Carpenters. With his first composing credit in 1972, Edelman went on to compose for a host of Hollywood films including Ghostbusters II, Kindergarten Cop, Gettysburg, Billy Madison, While You Were Sleeping, The Mask, The Whole Nine Yards, XXX, 27 Dresses and the third Mummy film, as well as co-composing The Last of the Mohicans. His new solo album, The Pacific Flow to Abbey Road, was released in March.
Kent-born Charley and Hattie Webb came from a very musical family and started performing around the UK as teenagers - including two performances for Princess Anne and the Queen. They recorded their debut album, Piece of Mind, in Nashville in 2000 and sold it at their gigs before being offered a record deal.
The Webb Sisters' second album, Daylight Crossing, was recorded in part at Abbey Road Studios and released in 2006 to critical acclaim, with the duo subsequently touring with Jamie Cullum. In 2009, the sisters supported Leonard Cohen on his first tour in 15 years, and in 2010 collaborated with Sting and toured with Rufus Wainwright. Their new album, Savages, is released later this month.
