Dave Pearce's journey through 40 years of dance music continues. Rusty Egan is the godlike DJ, Sophie Ellis-Bextor picks her ultimate 12" and Dave focuses on jazz funk.

Generations of Britons have enjoyed some of the best nights of their lives experiencing dance music in its different styles. Whether you enjoyed the heady days of disco, sported the nu-romantic look in the electronic 80s, sampled the warehouse parties or raves in the early 90s, visited the clubbing destination island of Ibiza or experienced the numerous dance festivals that have sprung up in the UK in the last 20 years. Whatever your experiences - if your clubbing days are mostly behind you, here's a chance to take a nostalgic trip back to some of the best nights of your life.

Each programme spotlights a defining era as we journey through the evolution of dance - this week the focus is on jazz-funk and soul, featuring music from Incognito, Donald Byrd and Lonnie Liston-Smith. Dave continues his search for the ultimate 12" single, as Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who has worked with the likes of Armin Van Buuren, Spiller and the Freemasons, contributes her choice. Rusty Egan - electro-pop pioneer, member of Visage, founder of the Camden Palace, and DJ at London's New Romantic Blitz Club - is this week's 'godlike DJ'. Plus, there's music from The KLF, Prodigy and Faithless.

Don't forget, you can share your own adventures in clubland over the years with Dave by e-mailing him at Dave.Pearce@bbc.co.uk.
