Bank Holiday Weekend Wogan
Sir Terry Wogan chats to actor Peter Davison and welcomes a performance from singer-songwriter David Gray.
Sir Terry Wogan eases you into your Sunday lunch with music and musings. This week, he chats to British actor Peter Davison and welcomes a performance from singer-songwriter David Gray.
Peter Davison's first role was in an episode of The Tomorrow People in 1975. In a television career spanning 45 years, Davison has appeared in many British programmes including At Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ with the Braithwaites, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Love for Lydia, and his break-out role in All Creatures Great and Small, before being cast as Doctor Who in 1981, and later appeared in many more staples of British TV including his stand-out role in At Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ with the Braithwaites. He also composed the theme tune to the popular 80s television series Button Moon, with his then wife.
David Gray is one of Britain's most successful singer-songwriters, achieving worldwide acclaim with his fourth studio album in 1998, the multi-platinum selling White Ladder. The album was self-financed and recorded in Gray's home and reached No 1 in the UK charts, earning Gray a Grammy Award nomination for Best New Artist. Gray released five more albums between 2001 and 2010, and has announced UK concert dates in May and June 2011. In his performance for this Bank Holiday special of Weekend Wogan, recorded earlier in the month, Gray performs his song The Old Chair and covers Van Morrison's And It Stoned Me.
