Mike Harding presents an hour of the very best in folk, roots and acoustic music, including a chat with Simon Nicol and Dave Pegg from folk rock pioneers Fairport Convention.

More than forty years after the band was formed, its 21st century line-up is preparing for the general release of their latest album, Festival Bell - their first since 2007.

Dave and founder-member Simon tell Mike about the making of the album and their choice of material, including songs by Richard Shindell and Chris While, and a re-working of former member Sandy Denny's song Rising for the Moon.

Simon and Dave also attempt to give Mike a potted history of the band, whose pioneering 1969 album Liege and Lief triumphantly blended rock with English traditional music and in 2006 was voted the Most Influential Folk Album of All Time by Radio 2 listeners.

Mike also gets the low-down on the band's 2011 Cropredy Convention festival, which has become a summer institution and this year will feature the likes of Badly Drawn Boy, Seasick Steve and a reformed Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Service.

Fairport's new album, Festival Bell, takes its title from a bell hung recently in Cropredy's St Mary's Church to celebrate the event's association with the Oxfordshire village.
