The show opens with a celebration of spring and features The Mills Brothers, Rosemary Clooney, Neil Sedaka, a tribute to Jane Russell, and more besides.

"Spring Cleaning" is the theme this week; not merely the title of the opening track but Russell Davies goes through some "discoveries" - recent-ish releases he came across while sorting out his shelves. We're introduced to new releases from Jasmine, Blue Orchid and Sepia records: material by The Mills Brothers, Margaret Whiting, Rosemary Clooney, Neil Sedaka, Billie Holiday and Sam Cooke.

A misprint on one of the albums (It's a Sin, Tell a Lie) leads Russell to consider some more song titles with one word missing (I Didn't Know What Time Was, Please Don't Talk About Me, I'm Gone) and we hear good versions of the songs in their correct form.

Russell also pays tribute to the late Jane Russell and relates the strange story of Arthur Lally and his plan to bomb Hitler's Berchtesgaden home in 1940. We hear Lally in happier times - a decade before - in a recent release of some rare vintage material.
