Susan Archibald
Susan Archibald speaks to Ricky Ross about becoming disabled and having to fight her way from road sweeper to disability rights campaigner.
Ricky hears from people who have faced a massive crossroads or turning point in their lives, and have ended up taking a different road to the one they started on. With the knowledge and experience they've acquired along the way, Ricky finds out how they reflect back on those difficult times and what words of wisdom they wish they could give their younger selves.
This week disability rights campaigner, Susan Archibald, tells Ricky how she coped after becoming disabled. Compelled to take her employer to court, after they refused to find her alternative suitable employment, the case ended up at the House of Lords, changing national employment laws. So this road sweeper became a rights campaigner and she now fights the fight for others with disabilities. Her motto is "change your cannies for I kinnie".
