This week, he has a session from the American jazz bassist and singer Esperanza Spalding, who has just won the Grammy award for Best New Artist. She performs music from her latest album Chamber Music Society in session at the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Maida Vale studios.

Having attracted media attention for her talents as a performer and composer, Esperanza reflects on her recent success. She tells the story of her initial musical experiences as a youth growing up in Portland, Oregon; through to her falling in love with the bass; and eventually playing with the likes of Christian Scott, Joe Lovano and Prince.
