Walking on Snowdon

Novelist Russell Celyn Jones recalls a memorable climb up Mount Snowdon and thinks about childhood, Wordsworth and the need to travel on foot.

"The climb becomes much steeper once you get past the barracks, and it's the moment for Rachel to ask: Is this mountain male or female? It's certainly enveloping. During the religious revivals in the early part of the twentieth century, people of Snowdonia underwent baptisms in freezing mountain lakes, swooned and fainted and spoke in tongues.
