Concrete Jungle

Ska music, girls and politics vie for the attention of young Harri and Rudy. With unemployment, youth protest and a Royal Wedding on the way, this is Coventry 1981.

By Sukhbender Singh

Unemployment on the rise, a royal wedding on the way, youth protests on the streets. It's Coventry 1981.

Against the backdrop of the ska music scene, young Harri and Rudy are trying to make their way in life. Harri faces a future working in his dad's shop, while Rudy's got a chance to make it in music. As the storm of racial tension grows they each have to make a choice about what's most important to them - music, girls, or standing up to be counted.
