Episode 17 of 52

Medical drama series. A racist patient makes a formal complaint against Malick, while old differences between Ric and Michael threaten to jeopardise a case.

When patient Aislinn Marsh tells Malick she would like a consultant rather than a registrar, it soon becomes apparent that this is not entirely the truth when his replacement is Ric. Malick accuses her of being racist and she uses this as a reason to delay her operation by making a formal complaint against him, saying that he was aggressive towards her. Even though this isn't true, it is Malick's word against hers. Therefore Ric tells him that he isn't allowed to operate on her. However in theatre Aislinn goes into crisis and the team need his help. He walks out of theatre and they assume he's abandoning them, although he swiftly returns with a crash team and saves the day.

Elizabeth finds herself working on Holby Care for Michael. She starts to bond with a young girl, Sarah, who is in for a breast augmentation. Concerned about Sarah's reasons for being there and Michael's keenness to get her into theatre ASAP, Elizabeth involves Ric. While Elizabeth discovers that Sarah is there for a legitimate medical reason, it doesn't stop her bosses arguing over the case. Michael is unimpressed that Elizabeth has called in his nemesis, and doesn't listen when she tries to suggest that Sarah may be sexually active - information which could be vital to the impending operation. This proves to be the case when Sarah's operation starts to go horribly wrong. Afterwards, in a heated discussion between Ric and Michael, Elizabeth has to scream at them to listen to her. She tells them what she knows about Sarah's relationship, and they realise that the young girl is pregnant. Even though both Ric and Michael have words about her insubordination, Michael sends her a bunch of flowers to say thanks for all her help today.
