Arts news with Mark Lawson. News of the winner of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ National Short Story Award, a review of new film Secretariat, and Michael Gambon and Anya Reiss pick up theatre gongs.
The winner of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ National Short Story Award 2010 is announced live tonight, and presented with a Β£15,000 cheque by James Naughtie, chair of the judges. The awards ceremony, broadcast from the Free Word Centre in London, includes the announcement of the runner-up who receives Β£3,000. The shortlisted authors are David Constantine, Aminatta Forna, Sarah Hall, Jon McGregor and Helen Oyeyemi.
Sports journalist and broadcaster Eleanor Oldroyd reviews Secretariat, a new Disney film which chronicles the life of a renowned American race horse, winner of the 1973 Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing.
Mark Lawson speaks to the winners of the 56th London Evening Standard Theatre Awards, including Sir Michael Gambon, honoured for his longstanding stage career, most promising playwright Anya Reiss, who wrote her winning debut play aged 17, and Rory Kinnear, who won Best Actor, and explains the pressures of playing Hamlet.
