With Phil Williams. Should all murderers get life? And why firemen left a man to drown in an icy Northamptonshire lake.

Phil Williams sits in with original stories from across the UK.

Half of us don't believe murderers should be jailed for life - so would you agree with changing to an American system of classifying homicides as first or second degree?

In the first hour, Phil hears from Bobby Cummines, a former bank robber who's now chief executive of Unlock, the National Association of Reformed Offenders; Mandalina Stepniewska, whose 20 year old son was killed in a violent gang attack in 2004 and whose killers could be out by 2020; William Clegg, a criminal barrister; and Lord Falconer, the former Lord Chancellor.

In the second hour, our Scotland correspondent hears how the parents of Linda Norgrove have described her "nightmare" death after being kidnapped in Afghanistan.

Also, Northamptonshire Fire Service defends itself after deciding against going into a frozen lake to rescue a drowning man. Phillip Surridge's mother says the fire service "condemned her son to death" at Brightwell Lake near Raunds in December 2010.

Plus one of the big six gas suppliers raises prices for more than 3 million customers, and have you been able to get hold of Take That tickets?
