Forty years ago the Jumbo Jet took to the skies, Concorde was close to entering service and the package holiday industry was in its heyday. We look at the changing face of travel.

Forty years ago Concorde was being tested prior to going into commercial service but already prompting complaints about noise from those who lived under its flight path. The Boeing 747 "Jumbo Jet" undertook its first commercial flight and one package tour operator had to get permission to offer a four day break in Majorca for just Β£18. Today the internet has left the package holiday industry on its knees, airlines are accused of charging unsustainable fares, Concorde has ceased flying and the Jumbo is being replaced by a generation of even bigger aircraft. You and Yours marks its fortieth birthday this month with a look back at the travel industry of 1970 and of the future.
