Scarlett and Theresa continue to fight over Bob's affections as he struggles to deal with the news that Scarlett isn't his real mother. Can Scarlett save her relationship with Bob?
Bob looks for answers following the revelation that Theresa - not Scarlett - is his real mother. When an oblivious Theresa arrives at the garage for work he asks why she gave him up as a baby. Stunned and lost for words, Theresa walks away.
Bob arrives to see Scarlett, who begs him to believe that they kept him from Theresa for his own good. Bob asks about his real father, glad that it's not the hateful Paddy Adams. Before Scarlett can answer, Theresa arrives intent on punishing her for telling Bob the truth. Frustrated by Scarlett's reticence, Bob asks Theresa about his real dad and is devastated to hear that he is dead. Bob leaves, annoyed with Scarlett for hiding this from him.
Theresa finds Bob and reveals that Scarlett was only supposed to keep him until Theresa got out of jail, but refused to give him back when she came for him. Bob's head is spinning with all the conflicting information he's getting. With Big Bob's help he arranges a family meeting so everyone can finally lay all cards on the table honestly. Determined not to lose Bob, Scarlett manages to keep her cool and behaves generously towards Theresa. Convinced that Scarlett is trying to turn Bob against her, Theresa loses her temper and Bob is disgusted. Defeated, Theresa heads off to lick her wounds.
Left alone, Scarlett apologises to Bob for not being completely honest with him earlier - she was only trying to protect him. Bob tells Scarlett he doesn't need protecting, he needs the truth. Scarlett agrees and sadly reveals that Theresa never came back for her baby son when she got out of jail. Bob is gutted.
Back at the flat Molly tries to placate Theresa as she rants about Scarlett's game plan. She digs out an old photograph and finds Bob, who reveals that he knows she abandoned him. Theresa tells him it's a lie and presents him with the old photo, claiming it to be his father who is actually alive and living in London. Theresa convinces Bob to go to London with her so they can find him. We sense that she might not have been completely honest when Molly counsels her against taking Bob away under false pretences. Scarlett finds out and a furious row ensues. Bob walks in and demands to know what's going on. Molly painfully reveals that Theresa was lying - the man in the photo is dead, and Theresa didn't want him as a baby. A desperate Theresa begs Bob to forgive her and accidentally lets slip that Paddy Adams is his dad after all. Bob is left reeling and Scarlett is stunned to realise that Theresa had an affair with her husband. Devastated, confused and not recognising anyone around him, Bob decides to leave Shieldinch. He heads off alone to come to terms with the truth about his identity.
It's the day of Ruth's wedding and everyone is gathering to celebrate the big day. Jo is horrified to discover that wedding planner Morna was a charlatan. She's done a runner with Jo's money without making any of the wedding arrangements. A frantic Jo ropes Gina and Scott in to help her salvage the wedding. They manage to find the dresses, get a venue and sort out catering but they are dealt a killer blow when Gina discovers that Morna never filed the paperwork for the marriage licence. The wedding's off.
When Ruth finds out, she's devastated and lunges at Jo, spilling coffee all over her wedding dress. Ruth breaks down and, through her tears, chastises Jo for taking over like she always does. It was never meant to be a big fancy wedding - all she and Andy wanted was a simple ceremony where they could declare their love for each other in front of their friends and family. Jo has an idea and a plan begins to form.
Jo returns to Ruth's flat with Malcolm carrying her late grandmother's wedding dress. A bemused Ruth agrees to go along with Jo's mysterious plan. Dressed for her big day, Ruth arrives at The Tall Ship to find it transformed with candles and fairy lights. Ruth and Andy have a non-wedding with Malcolm acting as registrar. He 'marries' his granddaughter to Andy in a beautiful, informal service where they declare their undying love for one another in front of their friends and family. After the ceremony Jo presents the happy couple with tickets to Las Vegas where they can make the marriage legal and return to Shieldinch as man and wife after their honeymoon.
Eileen's pregnancy hormones are wreaking havoc at The Ship. When Raymond tries to reason with Eileen about her erratic behaviour she flies off the handle, refusing to acknowledge that she might be hormonal. Charlie and Raymond hatch a plan to make Eileen cry in the hope that it will release her hormonal tension and take the heat off them. But when they show her a video of a cute kitten on the internet she sees through their plan and loses the rag. It's not until later that day, during Ruth's wedding, that Eileen is forced to admit that Raymond might have been right after all when she sobs uncontrollably at the sight of her niece Ruth in her late mother's wedding dress.
