Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ PROMS 2010

Live from the Royal Albert Hall, London

Presented by Louise Fryer

The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ National Orchestra of Wales' French-born associate conductor, FranΓ§ois-Xavier Roth, directs a mainly French-flavoured programme beginning with a brilliant suite by Rameau and a selection of Canteloube's seductive folk song settings. The title of Paris-based Argentinian composer Martin Matalon's new work translates as 'Lines of Flight' and relates to a technique in drawing where added lines produce depth and perspective in a picture. Finally a rarely-heard version of Musorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, orchestrated with characteristic flair and imagination by founder of the Proms, Sir Henry Wood.
