Tonight's programme features a session with Oregon born singer-songwriter Rachel Harrington. Her style mixes folk, country, blues and old-time gospel, and captures a sense of the old American West with an authenticity which is earning her comparisons with neo-traditionalist Gillian Welch. Of her 2007 album 'City of Refuge' the Irish Times wrote "This album is like tuning into some obscure backwoods American radio station from sepia-tinted days of yore. There is an innocence, a willingness, an awkwardness and an honesty that shines through. Her music inhabits that fertile space between folk, bluegrass and country."
Over the past few years Rachel has toured relentlessly in the UK, earning her a growing following of fans. She catches up with Bob in the middle of her latest tour which sees her performing 40 dates back-to-back.
