Denise wakes up in bed with Lucas. She’s worked out that it’s Libby’s birthday. Desperate to see her daughter she asks Lucas for the keys. She insists she was lying when she said she still loved Lucas, he’s either evil or mad. Lucas explains to Denise that everyone thinks she killed Owen and Trina. He suggests they go abroad together or kill themselves - so they can be together forever. Denise searches for the keys. Lucas threatens to take the sleeping pills. Denise finds a phone and tries to call the police, but Lucas stop her, breaking the handset. Lucas begs her not to leave him, then reveals the keys are in the door. Denise makes her way out of the cellar, and breaks through a boarded up front door. She discovers she’s in the square – next door to her own house. She stumbles to the door and lets herself in, just as Patrick and Chelsea sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Libby.
