Film director Lindy Heymann talks about her new film Kicks
Californian all-girl Garage band The Dum Dum Girls handpick tracks for this week's Lunchtime playlist. The band were formed by singer/songwriter Dee Dee who needed a band to take her songs out of the bedroom, and looked to her friends: Jules (guitar and vocals), Bambi (bass), and Frankie Rose (drums and vocals). It was an instant girl gang. The name a nod to both The Vaselines' album, Dum-Dum, and the Iggy Pop song "Dum Dum Boys" was originally released on a home-recorded CDR on her label Zoo Music. Describing their songs as "blissed-out buzz saw" the album "I Will Be" has a full release on the legendary American label Sub Pop. The girls hand pick their selection of songs for this week's Lunchtime Playlist.
