Episode 1
Toby Buckland, Carol Klein, Joe Swift and Alys Fowler tempt us back in the garden with snowdrops and Hellebores. Plus advice on growing tomatoes, sweat peas and raspberries.
Gardeners' World returns to celebrate the start of the gardening year with Toby Buckland, Carol Klein, Joe Swift and Alys Fowler. After a long and unforgiving winter they are tempting gardeners back outside with plenty of inspirational plants, seasonal jobs and essential tasks for the weekend.
Toby plants out the diminutive but beautiful snowdrop and recommends some of the best varieties for your garden. He also gets the vegetable garden started by sowing his tomato seeds and gives some top tips on the varieties to grow to get the best flavour. It's also the perfect time to get bare root raspberry canes in the ground so Joe Swift joins him to get the fruit garden under way.
Carol Klein is at Glebe Cottage beginning her gardening year with a close look at some surprising relationships within plant families, starting with hellebores. Also along floral lines, Alys Fowler is sowing sweet peas in hope of arms full of fragrant blooms for picking in the summer.
