Episode 3
No Going Back explores the stories of those who fuelled the expansion of Scotland's hi-tech industrial explosion and survived its subsequent demise.
Silicon Glen never appeared on any map - the hi-tech explosion, most densely concentrated in the post-industrial central corridor between Glasgow and Edinburgh, was more a community of hope than houses. The name evoked the technological Eden of Silicon Valley in California and it offered a glittering alternative to the area's decaying industrial past. But the Glen was to prove a mirage, which would fade as dramatically as it appeared with thousands of jobs lost as hi-tech giants closed their plants in the early 2000's. Amazingly though, the demise did not devastate the community and No Going Back explores the stories of those who fuelled the expansion and survived the demise.
