Craig Charles brings his selection of new and classic funk and soul to Radio 2 and revisits the unique Fantasy Funk Band session which formed part of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's 75th anniversary celebrations of Maida Vale earlier this year.
Craig's Fantasy Funk Band was put together following suggestions by his Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ 6 Music listeners. The group featured James Taylor on Hammond, the Haggis Horns, Eddie Roberts from the New Mastersounds on guitar, Ernie Maconie on bass, and Mike Bandoni on drums, with John Turrell and Dionne Charles sharing vocal duties.
He plays the latest breakthrough artists, through to classic recordings from Bootsy Collins, Smokey Robinson, Anne Peebles and many more. There are further session tracks from Brand New Heavies, who recorded Midnight At The Oasis especially for the show; and The Impellers, who perform their own take on That's Not My Name by The Tings Tings.
You can hear Craig Charles' Funk & Soul Show on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ 6 Music every Saturday at 7.00pm.
