Charles Dickensβ classic ghost story was first published in 1866 as part of the multiple author βMugby Junctionβ collection, in the Christmas edition of the periodical βAll the Year Roundβ. The story is said to have been inspired by a the Clayton Tunnel crash, near Brighton, in 1861.
