The Investigation - Â鶹ԼÅÄcoming

Has Scotland's year of Â鶹ԼÅÄcoming been a success? Edi Stark investigates; Graham Stewart takes your calls.

Edi Stark investigates the highs and lows of Scotland's year of Â鶹ԼÅÄcoming and we ask: was it a success?

Championed by the Scottish Government, Â鶹ԼÅÄcoming 2009 was meant to inspire the Scottish diaspora to come back and pay Scotland a visit. This weekend saw a number of events being held across the country to mark the finale, but was the initiative a success? Organisers say it has boosted the Scottish economy to the tune of £19.4m, but some events have been plagued by poor ticket sales.

While the bigger picture looks good, questions regarding the key event - the Clan Gathering - have to be answered after it made a loss of £600,000, leaving many suppliers unpaid and confusion about who will pick up the bill. In an exclusive interview, the creator of the flagship event, Lord Jamie Sempill, tells Edi what went wrong.

Graham Stewart takes your calls, texts and emails.
