Stephen Johnson is joined by the Aronowitz Ensemble at the Pittville Pump Room in Cheltenham to explore music by Schnittke and Mahler.

In a programme recorded at the Pittville Pump Room, as part of the 2009 Cheltenham Festival of Music, Stephen Johnson is joined by the Aronowitz Ensemble to explore the music of Schnittke and Mahler. The festival's focus is on the music of Jewish heritage, and these composers, as well as being Jewish, had clear musical links. The main pieces discussed are Mahler's early Piano Quartet movement, Schnittke's Piano Quintet and the Mahler/Schnittke Piano Quartet.
