The team visits Gardening Scotland, at the Royal Highland Showground, Ingliston, just outside Edinburgh. The show is sometimes called the Chelsea of the North.

The whole Beechgrove team take a break from the garden to be at Gardening Scotland, which is celebrating its 10th birthday. Sometimes called the Chelsea of the North, it is certainly the biggest gardening show north of the border.

Gardening Scotland 2009 will burst into bloom at the Royal Highland Showground, Ingliston, just outside Edinburgh. With more than 150 stands in the Floral Hall, the cream of British growers will be there, including those showing off their gold medals straight from Chelsea, although, as ever, Beechgrove will be concentrating on the Scottish talent and Scottish plants. We'll join them all for a
sneak preview as well as sampling the atmosphere of the show itself.

Firm show favourites return alongside a host of new exhibitors, with everything from pansies to pelargoniums, and cacti to clematis in a floral frenzy. Outside, stunning show gardens provide inspiration for everyone, regardless of budget. And with the tiniest of budgets, last year saw 47 entries for the small but perfectly formed 'pallet gardens'. This year, although the gardens are tiny the enthusiasm is massive and set to surpass that figure.

Jim, Carole and Lesley and Carolyn will be at Gardening Scotland all weekend.
