Celebrating the life and career of Sir Andre Previn, whose musical journey has included Hollywood directors, outraged peacocks, the London Symphony Orchestra and Morecambe and Wise.

Born on 6 April 1929 in Berlin, Andre emigrated with his family to the United States ten years later and became one of the most distinguished musicians of our time.

His collection of awards includes Grammys, Oscars (four in total for film scores including My Fair Lady and Gigi), the Austrian and German Cross of Merit, the Lifetime Achievement Award of the LSO and a British Knighthood.

This series is written by Russell Davies and includes contributions from Sir John Dankworth and Dame Cleo Laine, Denis Wick, John Ammonds, David Finck, Richard Sherman and Sir Tom Stoppard. It first broadcast in April 2009 to coincide with a season of concerts at Carnegie Hall celebrating his 80th birthday.
