Peggy's political dreams lie in tatters after a vengeful Janine ruins her latest photo opportunity. Meanwhile, Danielle confronts Stacey about her actions the night before.

Janine makes a fake call to Peggy offering a charity donation to her campaign fund. Peggy sees it as an excellent publicity opportunity. Peggy unwraps what she thinks is the cheque before the photographer and gathered crowd. She’s horrified to find that it’s a photo of her in a glamour shot from her youth. Janine gloats at Peggy’s humiliation. Archie pretends to stop the photographer from printing the picture. He later bursts into Janine’s house, but far from threatening her, he tells her it could be the start of a beautiful friendship.

Danielle tells Stacey that she saw her kissing Paul and is furious. A row ensues. Stacey is packing up Jean’s clothes. She tells Charlie that Jean’s letter said she didn’t want to come back to Walford yet. Stacey assures him she’s fine. In the Vic, Stacey is left red-faced when there’s a fight between Paul and two of her ex boyfriends. Charlie and Mo wish Jean were there to deal with her. Stacey arrives home to find Jean waiting.

Charlie’s dinner with Brenda is a disaster and she leaves. Despairing, Charlie goes after her and tells her he loves her. Brenda tells him she likes him too, but as she leaves her face tells a different story.

Roxy sees an expensive necklace but Archie tells her she can’t have it. Archie gives money to Roxy for a new papoose and warns her not to spend the cash on the necklace. Jack gives Roxy a new push chair for Amy. Although initially uneasy, she realises she can now keep Archie’s money for herself.

It’s the grand opening of Masala Queen. At the unit, Ian’s outraged to discover that he’s been kept in the dark about a contract for Peggy. The proviso of the contract was the exclusion of Ian.
